Job description

Job Title: Part Time Security Officer
Department: Security
Reports To: Security Operations Managerย ย ย 
Rate: $24.25/hour
SUMMARY
Provide security for Lumen Field, Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater. Act as primary point of contact for all internal and external customers regarding security-related needs.
The appointee will possess honesty, integrity, embrace diversity by demonstrating respect and kindness to others, good judgment and the ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner without the unnecessary use of physical force or escalating the situation. Additionally, the appointee shall always present a courteous and professional attitude and appearance. This position is also required to work both indoors and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work closely with facility and contract security personnel regarding all security related activities
  • Implement all emergency procedures when situations arise
  • Attend briefings with the outgoing Command Administrator or designee to review the shift log and address any outstanding issues. Repeat the process with the incoming Command Administrator at end of the shift
  • Before end of shift, prepare and submit complete and well written incident reports to the Security Lead or Security Manager for review and approval. Make suggested changes as deemed appropriate before the incident report is filed for recordkeeping purposes
  • Investigate suspicious persons or activities encountered while on duty
  • Review daily manifests to be aware of all the planned events during the assigned shift
  • Provide professional class security and event related support to the event manager on duty, the guests and other staff
  • Provide escorts to staff and contractors to highly secured areas as well as League Officials and VIPโ€™s on event days
  • Responsible for handling internal communications activities such as: phones, radios, etc.
  • Operate and maintain Security and Fire Command panels located in the Security Operations Center and the Fire Control room
  • Monitor the entry and departure of people in the facility using access control and video management systems
  • Manage in place key control measures
  • Conduct initial investigations into complaints and/or incidents as directed by management
  • Conduct patrols of the facility ensuring personnel and premises are safe preventing damage, burglary and other unexpected occurrences
  • Responsible for signing out uniforms, keys, radios, timecards, etc., to staff
  • Work with contractors, vendors, clients, exhibitors and site construction teams to exchange and gather information regarding check-in and check-out procedures
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Shift assignments may change often. Ability to hold over shifts as required to assist with special events
  • Resolve conflicts through the use of excellent intrapersonal skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid government issued identification card
  • Two years security experience, or a combination of part-time security experience and some level of formal education in criminal justice, or a related field of study, equivalent to two years of security experience

  • Some college education preferred; preference given to Criminal Justice, Security or related fields of study
  • Corporate Security, Military or Law Enforcement experience
