Job Summary
A Deli Specialist prepares and serves a variety of hot and cold deli items, including meats, sandwiches, salads, specialty products, and items from the hot case and salad bar, in line with company recipes and standards. This role emphasizes customer service, food safety, and kitchen operations. Deli Specialists also maintain cleanliness, assist with inventory control, and promote Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by engaging with customers and providing excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
  • Greet and assist customers, providing recommendations and answering questions.
  • Accurately fulfill orders with proper portioning and packaging.
  • Maintain an organized, well-stocked deli counter with appealing product displays.

Food Preparation:
  • Slice and package deli meats, cheeses, and other items to customer preferences.
  • Prepare salads, sandwiches, hot bar items, and other deli specialties.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate stock as needed.
  • Cook and prepare hot deli items, including fried chicken and entrees.

Inventory & Sanitation:
  • Assist with inventory control and product storage with the first in first out (FIFO), ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • Keep the deli area clean and sanitized, including equipment, counters, and storage areas.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Sales & Merchandising:
  • Create attractive product displays and assist with product upselling, including party trays and deli platters.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and labeling.
