Job description

Name of Church: Alliance Bible Church
City and State: Baytown, TX
Contact Person and Email Address: Danielle Cather (office@abcbaytown.org)
Role/Position Title: Lead Pastor
Job/Role Description: ABCBaytown is praying for a dynamic and spiritually mature individual to serve as our co-vocational Lead Pastor. This leadership role is pivotal in shepherding our congregation towards spiritual growth, fostering a culture of discipleship, and guiding us in fulfilling our mission to glorify God and love others.
Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Shepherding the church with the locally elected elders
  • Chairing the Administrative Board
    • Providing oversight and direction to church resources
    • Mobilizing, supporting and encouraging the efforts of elected lay leaders (Deacons, Deaconesses & Trustees)
  • Leading a part-time church staff (Office Manager & Facilities Coordinator)
  • Planning with the elders the annual church worship calendar
  • Casting vision and leading the church into a continued effective, missional future with one another and in the community
  • Encouraging and engaging with the congregation to live active Christian lives

Qualifications:
  • A licensed and ordained official worker with The Alliance, or the willingness and ability to become credentialed
  • A humble heart willing to co-lead with mature, loving church elders
  • Desire to love and work with a diverse body of believers to reach Baytown with the Gospel of Jesus
  • A passion and vision for outreach into the community and the ability to mobilize others around that vision

Compensation Package: The compensation package for this co-vocational position is $40,000 annually. This includes salary, housing allowance, retirement contributions, and a healthcare allowance. Health insurance through The Alliance is also available as part of this package. The compensation package can be structured to optimally accommodate the individual.
About Baytown: Baytown, TX is an eastern suburb of Houston, TX with a population of approximately 85,000. Baytown is a predominantly blue-collar, refinery town and home to Exxon and Chevron. Baytown is a diverse city, with about 20% of the population born outside the US. 52% of our population is Hispanic. The harvest is plentiful for those with a heart to serve and mobilize others to serve in a multi-ethnic environment.
About Alliance Bible Church: Our church has approximately 45-50 congregants who worship with us on Sunday mornings. Our youth group serves 27 students from 9 different schools. For our size, we have many young families. Our children's ministry serves 10-15 children.
Our main campus is a gymnasium. We rent the facility out to community and sports groups during the week. Our facility is used every day of the week. We recently converted an old warehouse building into a community pickleball court with the aim of increasing our engagement and interaction with the local community. Our church is debt-free.
Our part-time staff includes a Facilities Coordinator (who manages the rental contracts and relationships) and an Office Manager. We brought on a church planter in 2021 who now uses our gym on Sunday afternoons and evenings for a sports outreach ministry and a facility for the church plant. We maintain a supportive, cooperative relationship with his family and their ministry.
We have leveraged our campus to get more integrated with our local community in the last few years. We believe that if the next pastor can mobilize and galvanize the church to go into the harvest that God brought to our facility, then God will bring in a mighty harvest for the Kingdom.
Helpful information about our transition: We are not a church in distress. Our previous pastor was called up for deployment as an Army chaplain. He left on great terms. Our church is stable, united, and discerning who God may be calling to lead us into our next season.
To help us better assess the suitability of candidates into our current leadership team, the church will provide an SDI assessment and/or an APEST assessment to prospective candidates. We will also provide assessment results for our current leadership. These results would not serve as a determination criterion for candidates, but rather as beneficial information for the church's consideration and discernment about the suitability of candidates.
To be considered for this position, please complete the application to include your testimony, resume and other background information related to the position.
If the district office has reviewed your application and they think you may be a potential match for the position, that the hiring manager will reach out to you for next steps.
