Assistant Project Manager (Capital Construction Projects) (Grant Funded)

About the Role

Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Capital Projects, coordinates and manages the activities of assigned capital construction projects from the planning and design states through construction, occupancy, and project closeout. Manages and administers capital projects including all daily activities associated with planning, budgeting, coordination/preparation of contracts documents, weekly project meetings, oversight of construction activities, coordination of end user requirement, professional consultants, construction administration and end user occupancy.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Assists Senior Project Manager, with support from Facility Directors & in‐house trades, with the various task required for successful execution of wide variety of capital/infrastructure improvement projects. 
  • Budgets interim moves and infrastructure upgrades required for planned projects.
  • Architectural project identification and viability analysis, space planning options and creation of schematic sketches, facility moves, design/construction scope identification, consultant/contractor RFP/Q solicitations with Purchasing department, and design, consulting ad construction contracts using various project delivery methods.   
  • Mechanical, Electrical and Technology work related to a new project for compliance with current regulations. Interface with  other hospital departments for specialized equipment or systems necessary
  • Documents control and distribution of project documentation including as‐builts, warranties, O+Ms. 
  • Jobsite observation and reporting of activities in‐progress.
  • Contract tracking of issued documents, contract value, approved contract changes, pending contract changes, and billing status.
  • Observes and reports on ICRA compliance, general safety, and housekeeping conditions on a project in coordination with inhouse Infection control, environmental and safety staff.  9Learns the existing buildings systems and organizational structure for future advancement opportunities within the organization  that offers a wide variety of unique opportunities and challenges.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Project Manager/Direct Report Manager, Facilities & Maintenance Department Directors  and Supervisors, or Leadership. Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate  Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as  they change or are modified.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Associates Degree in an engineering field, technical, trade/vocational or union apprenticeship certificate holders will be considered.
  • Ability to understand and interpret design and construction documents. 3‐5 years of experience in cooperative, apprenticeship, full or part‐time position within engineering, construction, real estate, or facility management industries.
  • Familiarity with architectural, electrical, technology and piped/ducted systems used in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite apps and a basic understanding of project schedule concepts. Familiarity with collaborative project management software (Procore). Excellent organization and problem‐solving skills.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $77,803.00 - $116,709.00 annually.
