JOB DESCRIPTIONUpdated: 9/8/2026Position TitleAssistant Project Manager - InternReports To:Sr. Project Manager / Project Manager  Position SummaryThe Assistant Project Manager Intern provides administrative and project support to Project Managers and Superintendents while gaining hands-on experience in commercial construction project management. This part-time internship is designed to expose students or recent graduates to estimating, scheduling, project documentation, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, safety practices, and quality control processes. The intern will assist the project team with daily project activities while developing the knowledge and skills necessary for a future career in construction management.Essential Functions/Position ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The Assistant Project Manager works closely with the Superintendent and assists the Project Manager with the following responsibilities:
  • Safety – Support the project team in promoting a safe working environment.
  • Estimates – Assist with record take off quantities and insert them into our master estimates. Assist with organizing bid information and tracking subcontractor responses.
  • Assist with preparation and organization of subcontract documents.
  • Help maintain subcontractor records and project files.
  • Assist with logging, reviewing, and tracking shop drawings and submittals in Procore.
  • Help ensure documentation is complete and properly routed for review.
  • Maintain organized project files, drawings, specifications, RFIs, meeting minutes, sketches, and other project records.
  • Ensure project information is updated and distributed as directed.
  • Assist with tracking project costs, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract documentation.
  • Help gather information from subcontractors regarding upcoming work activities and material deliveries.
  • Communicate with subcontractors regarding schedules, documentation requirements, and project updates.
  • Assist in confirming material delivery dates and workforce scheduling needs.
  • Participate in project walks and punch list development.
  • Assist in documenting quality concerns and tracking completion of corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project organization, administrative processes, and workflow efficiency.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn construction management processes, software systems, and industry best practices.
 Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Hiring Requirements/Preferences 
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field.
  • Available to work part-time during the school year and/or summer internship period.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
