What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Freelance Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Freelance Project Manager, you typically need strong project management experience, organizational skills, and a relevant degree or certification such as PMP or Agile credentials. Familiarity with project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Microsoft Project, as well as remote collaboration platforms, is commonly required. Exceptional communication, time management, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing multiple clients and adapting to varying project scopes. These abilities ensure projects are delivered efficiently, clients are satisfied, and professional relationships are maintained in a flexible freelance environment.

How does a part-time freelance project manager typically balance multiple clients and projects effectively?

As a part-time freelance project manager, effective time management and prioritization are essential when juggling several clients and projects. You'll likely need to allocate dedicated blocks of time for each client, maintain clear communication channels, and utilize project management tools to track progress and deadlines. It's common to set expectations early with clients regarding your availability and response times, and to regularly update them on project milestones. This approach helps maintain productivity, reduces the risk of missed deadlines, and ensures client satisfaction.

What is a part time freelance project manager?

A part time freelance project manager is a professional who oversees projects for clients on a flexible, contract basis rather than as a full-time employee. They are responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring that tasks are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Working part time allows them to manage multiple clients or projects simultaneously, providing expertise without the commitment of a full-time position. Freelance project managers often work remotely and adapt their schedule to meet the needs of their clients.

Candidates must be diligent, extremely organized, and possess excellent time management and communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to provide part-time seasonal support on a long-term basis, establishing a relationship with the Design team and developing an understanding of their goals and objectives.

  • Ad hoc projects as needed.

What we would like you to have:

  • BA, BFA in Design or equivalent experience required (MFA preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience working in the expanded field of graphic design, gallery or 'Art world' experience preferred.
  • Strong typographic skills.

  • Takes initiative and is self-motivated.
  • Solid understanding of digital mechanical specifications, email and advertising material specs, color profiles, and CMYK and RGB color workflows.

  • Excellent skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and ability to animate motion graphics), Slack, and G Suite.

What you will love about David Zwirner:

  • David Zwirner has pioneered initiatives dedicated to the gallery's long-standing commitment to kaleidoscopic storytelling, including: David Zwirner Online, David Zwirner Books, Dialogues, Utopia Editions, and Consignments.
