Why is Gen Z struggling to get jobs?

Gen Z faces challenges in securing jobs due to high competition, limited work experience, and employers' preference for candidates with more established skills. Part time roles with flexible hours often require specific skills or certifications, which can be a barrier for younger applicants entering the workforce.

How to make $1000 a week part-time?

A part-time role with 10 hours a week typically earns a lower weekly income, so making $1000 requires high hourly pay rates or multiple jobs. To reach this goal, consider roles in specialized fields, freelance work, or side gigs that pay above average, and develop skills that command higher rates. Combining multiple part-time opportunities or increasing hours can also help achieve the target income.

Is 10 hours a week enough for part-time?

Part-time jobs typically involve fewer than 30-35 hours per week, so working 10 hours a week is generally considered part-time. This schedule can be suitable for students, those with other commitments, or as supplemental income, but may limit earning potential and benefits. Employers often specify minimum hours or schedules for part-time roles, so availability can impact job suitability.

What is the 70 30 rule in hiring?

The 70/30 rule in hiring suggests that 70% of the hiring decision should be based on skills, experience, and qualifications, while 30% should consider cultural fit and personality. For part-time roles like a 10-hour-a-week position, this balance helps ensure candidates meet job requirements while aligning with team dynamics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part-time employee working 10 hours a week, and why are they important?

To thrive in a part-time role working 10 hours a week, time management, reliability, and a foundational understanding of the specific job duties are essential, along with any required education or experience relevant to the position. Familiarity with standard office software, point-of-sale systems, or industry-specific tools may be necessary depending on the job. Strong communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are vital soft skills for maximizing productivity in limited hours. These skills ensure you can efficiently contribute value to the organization while managing your responsibilities within a condensed schedule.

How can I effectively manage my time and prioritize tasks in a part-time, 10-hour-per-week role?

In a part-time position with limited weekly hours, it's important to communicate regularly with your supervisor to clarify priorities and deadlines. Focus on high-impact tasks during your scheduled hours and use organizational tools, such as task lists or digital calendars, to stay on track. Balancing efficiency with quality is essential, and being proactive about scheduling regular check-ins can help ensure your efforts align with the team's objectives. This approach not only boosts productivity but also demonstrates reliability and commitment, which can lead to more opportunities down the line.
