The Role
The Consultant Relations Sales Executive is an executive-level individual contributor responsible for advancing Vanguard's institutional presence through strategic relationships with retirement and investment consultants. This role serves as a primary relationship owner and trusted advisor, aligning Vanguard's investment capabilities with consultant priorities while translating market and consultant insights into actionable strategies that drive institutional growth. Operating with significant autonomy, this executive influences consultant advocacy, strengthens strategic partnerships, and contributes to sustained sales and retention outcomes.
What you will do
  • Develop and execute strategic territory and consultant engagement plans to drive growth and retention.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior and executive-level consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Vanguard's investment capabilities clearly and credibly through in-person, written, and digital communication.
  • Influence consultant perspectives to support adoption and positioning of Vanguard solutions.
  • Execute targeted prospecting strategies, including meetings, events, and industry conferences.
  • Document and manage opportunities in accordance with established sales processes and compliance standards.
  • Mentor and coach junior sales professionals and internal partners.
  • Monitor market, competitive, and regulatory developments to inform positioning and strategy.
  • Participate in special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

What it takes
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in institutional financial services sales
  • Strong understanding of the retirement recordkeeping and investment landscape
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic account plans
  • Solid investment knowledge and market acumen
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills
  • Ability to travel at least 60%
  • FINRA Series 6 or 7 and Series 63 licenses (or ability to obtain)
