Job description

What you'll do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing advisory team by hiring, coaching, training, and providing ongoing feedback; creating an inclusive and collaborative team culture; setting clear performance expectations; and making compensation recommendations aligned to Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Drive participant and business outcomes by ensuring a deep understanding of in-plan and out-of-plan solutions, strong appointment availability, consistent service quality, and effective follow-through that supports strong participant financial well-being.

  • Elevate planning quality and problem-solving by supporting advisors in analyzing participant retirement planning needs, resolving issues, and translating insights into practical, participant-centered solutions.

  • Influence and execute strategy by contributing to annual business planning, departmental priorities, and long-term strategic initiatives that strengthen the VSA service and operating model.

  • Shape how work gets done by developing, influencing, and implementing departmental policies and procedures; communicating internal and industry developments quickly and accurately; and supporting organization evolution and change management at the department level.

  • Build trusted partnerships by cultivating close relationships with internal and external stakeholders and serving as a visible leader within the Workplace and Personal Wealth organizations.

  • Serve as a planning resource by maintaining deep knowledge of Vanguard products, funds, services, financial planning, capital markets, and the broader financial services industry; sharing expertise with internal partners as needed.

  • Lead special projects and other initiatives that advance the team, improve the client experience, or support business needs.

What a successful candidate looks like

  • A highly motivated, crew-focused leader that has demonstrated experience building strong team cultures.

  • An open-minded and solution-oriented team player that enjoys building new capabilities and ways to work.

  • Eight years of related experience in participant advice and/or financial consulting, including supervisory experience, strongly preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • CFP preferred.

  • This job requires series 7, 63, 24, 65/66 regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC).

Compliance and licensing This role and the advisors it leads operate in a regulated environment. Leaders are expected to model strong risk awareness and ensure required registrations, licensing, documentation, and communications standards are consistently met in alignment with Compliance guidance.
