Job description

On second shift, you’ll be the go-to quality expert on the production floor—hands-on, highly technical, and central to ensuring every part shipped by RGC meets customer, company (RGC), and industry specifications. You’ll partner closely with production, engineering, and suppliers to keep processes tight and continuously improve product quality.

A day in your role

You begin by running first-piece inspections as new jobs launch, interpreting blueprints, control plans, and customer specifications to verify features and tolerances. Throughout the shift, you perform in-process checks, assist operators with proper measurement methods, and program/operate both manual and CNC CMMs (PC-DMIS/Modus preferred) to capture data quickly and accurately. You’ll spot nonconforming material, help drive corrective actions, and complete final inspections before shipments leave the building.

What you’ll handle
  • First piece, in-process, and final inspections
  • Inspection of incoming vendor materials and outgoing customer shipments
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, customer specs, and control plans
  • Use of precision tools: ID/OD micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, CMMs, Hofler gear inspection machine, and tooth verniers
  • Programming and operating manual and CNC CMMs (PC-DMIS / Modus preferred)
  • Executing and maintaining the calibration system
  • Identifying/rejecting nonconforming materials and assisting with corrective actions
  • Coaching production on measurement methods and technique
  • Supporting PPAP/ISIR submissions, process capability studies, and first articles
  • Organizing quality documentation and customer files
  • Participating in internal audits and supplier quality activities
What you bring
  • 2–4 years in manufacturing and/or quality assurance
  • Fluency in blueprint reading and precision metrology
  • Solid math and geometry fundamentals
  • Demonstrated calibration experience (required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Background in bevel gear manufacturing (preferred)
Work environment
  • Production floor and CNC machining environment; second shift schedule
Compensation and growth
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Growth opportunities within a quality-driven manufacturing organization
Benefits
  • Health insurance
  • Dental and Vision
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and Holidays
Proficiencies that set you up for success
  • GD&T
  • Quality Inspection Experience
  • Statistical process control (SPC)
  • Quality Control Experience
  • Tape Measure Reading
  • Advanced Inspection & Gauge Measurement
  • Quality Control Data Analysis
  • PPAP Process Experience
  • Blueprint Reading
Tools & technologies you’ll use
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) (Mitutoyo, Hexagon)
  • Measurement Gauges
  • Calipers and Micrometers
  • Quality Control Software (PC-DMIS)
