CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer

Join the team of a leading manufacturer serving highly regulated industries as a
CMM Programmer / Quality Engineer. This role is ideal for an experienced CMM programmer who enjoys working in a precision manufacturing environment and wants to make a direct impact on product quality and new product launches.
In this position, you'll take the lead in developing and maintaining CMM inspection programs while partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to support dimensional inspection, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, program, troubleshoot, and maintain CMM inspection programs for production, first article inspections, and new product launches.
- Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment and other precision measuring instruments.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to develop accurate and repeatable inspection methods.
- Optimize CMM programs to improve measurement accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
- Support new product introductions by developing and maintaining quality documentation, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, MSA, SPC, and PPAP documentation.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for quality improvements and increased process capability.
- Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to resolve quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Support customer quality initiatives, internal and external audits, and ongoing compliance with quality standards.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing variation and improving manufacturing performance.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent manufacturing quality experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on CMM programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Experience with PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, or similar CMM software.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and dimensional inspection techniques.
- Experience with quality tools including PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, PPAP, and structured root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace, precision machining, metal fabrication, roll forming, medical device, automotive, or other precision manufacturing environments.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI).
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other regulated quality systems.
