Job description

We have an immediate need for an experienced CAD Programmer for a steel detailer in northwest Houston. The role is responsible for creating CNC nesting layouts from customers’ drawings utilizing CAD/CAM software suites such as Sigmanest, OmniWin, and ProNest. Accuracy and attention to detail are required, along with effective interpersonal and written skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to generate tool paths and cutting parameters.
  • Perform material nesting to maximize yield and reduce scrap.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and work orders for accuracy.
  • Run machining simulations and verify program functionality before production.
  • Work closely with machine operators and production personnel to troubleshoot programming and machining issues.
  • Maintain proper revision control and documentation of all CAD files.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication department.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in software suites such as Sigmanest, OmniWin, and ProNest.
