Imagine this scenario: a critical aerospace component arrives for verification. You load the setup, reference the CAD, and build a Zeiss Calypso routine that captures every datum and tolerance. While it runs, you plan sampling, consult GD&T callouts, and prepare an objective, narrative report that will confirm to the customer their requirements are fully met. This is the type of impact you’ll have on our 1st shift team.

Role Overview

As a CMM/Zeiss Metrology Specialist and Quality Engineer, you will partner with Quality Assurance and Engineering to meet quality engineering needs for customers, suppliers, and our internal QMS. Your work blends hands-on measurement with systems thinking to elevate performance across the operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and operate CMMs with Zeiss Calypso and PC-DMIS; apply CAD and GD&T to verify features and tolerances.
  • Use vision systems—Smart-Scope, Oasis, Keyence—to complement dimensional inspection.
  • Define testing methods and sample sizes; compile statistical data that informs quality improvements and validates customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to uphold quality protocols, maintain documentation integrity, and implement improvements from quality reviews.
  • Identify and log product, process, and QMS issues; participate in internal audits aligned to AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485.
  • Provide comprehensive inspection support: first article, in-process, and end-item.
  • Author clear, concise narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
Qualifications
  • Aerospace and Defense background.
  • Associate degree or technical/trade training (or equivalent) with 5+ years related experience.
  • Solid computer skills; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches; strong written and verbal communication.
  • Expertise in GD&T, precision measurement & hand metrology, and advanced inspection & gauge measurement.
  • Comfort working independently and collaboratively to solve complex problems.
