Futuristic Underwriters is a growth-focused Managing General Agent (MGA) building disciplined, industry-specific Property & Casualty capabilities nationwide. We operate as a direct-to-retail MGA writing on affiliated paper, combining underwriting authority, speed to market, and close alignment with retail distribution.


Our Commercial P&C division underwrites small and middle-market risks nationwide, currently on an E&S basis with expansion into admitted capabilities over time.


We are actively expanding underwriting teams across the following industry verticals:

  • Construction
  • Hospitality
  • Real Estate
  • Retail & Services

The Role:

Futuristic Underwriters is hiring multiple Commercial P&C Underwriters to support our dedicated industry verticals. Each Underwriter will align to a specific industry segment and report directly to the corresponding Industry Manager.

This role is responsible for underwriting new business to drive profitable growth, operating within established underwriting guidelines and portfolio strategy. The position combines disciplined risk selection, pricing discipline, and strong agency engagement.


Location: Remote, USA


Travel: Occasional travel to support agency engagement and business development.


Core Responsibilities:

Underwriting Execution

  • Focus primarily on new business underwriting
  • Provide oversight and approval for complex or referred renewal and endorsement activity
  • Evaluate exposure, coverage structure, pricing adequacy, and policy terms
  • Apply underwriting guidelines and adhere to referral authority protocols

Portfolio & Performance Management

  • Build and manage a profitable portfolio aligned with performance targets
  • Monitor performance and implement corrective underwriting action when necessary

Agency Partnership

  • Develop productive relationships with retail agents
  • Clearly communicate underwriting appetite to improve submission alignment
  • Provide disciplined underwriting feedback to strengthen long-term agency partnerships

Collaboration & Operational Discipline

  • Leverage internal technology, data tools, and workflow systems
  • Utilize dedicated Service and Underwriting Operations support for policy processing and administrative functions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and workflow compliance

Success Measures:

  • Profitable growth of assigned portfolio
  • New business conversion and responsiveness aligned with established targets
  • Adherence to underwriting authority and referral governance
  • Strength and productivity of agency relationships
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of multi-line commercial P&C new business underwriting experience
  • Experience in Construction, Hospitality, Real Estate, or Retail & Services
  • Strong technical knowledge of GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella, and related coverages
  • E&S underwriting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to balance growth with disciplined risk selection
  • Strong communication and agency-facing skills
