A cosmetic dermatology and MOHS Practice.
Who You Are
The Front Desk Lead with Dermatology Coding Experience oversees daily front office operations for a dermatology practice, ensuring smooth patient flow, excellent customer service, and accurate insurance and billing processes. This individual will act as a liaison between front desk staff and management, while also utilizing their dermatology coding expertise to support billing accuracy and claims submissions.
What You'll Do
  • Front Desk Operations
    • Lead and support front desk team in scheduling, check-in/check-out, insurance verification, and patient inquiries
    • Ensure front desk coverage, coordinate staff schedules, and assign daily responsibilities
    • Monitor and improve workflows to optimize patient flow and minimize wait times
    • Handle escalated patient concerns or complaints professionally and promptly
    • Ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment

    Medical Coding & Billing Support
    • Accurately review and code dermatology procedures and diagnoses (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
    • Ensure documentation supports codes submitted and meets billing compliance standards
    • Collaborate with clinical team to clarify diagnoses and treatments for coding purposes
    • Assist billing department in resolving coding-related claim denials and rejections
    • Train front desk staff on basic insurance and coding practices relevant to their roles

    Administrative Leadership
    • Assist in onboarding, training, and mentoring new front desk staff
    • Conduct performance check-ins and provide feedback to team members
    • Communicate practice policies, updates, and goals to front office team
    • Maintain inventory of front desk supplies and equipment
    • Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance at the front desk

What You Bring
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of medical front desk experience in a dermatology practice
  • 1-2 years of experience with dermatology coding and billing
  • Supervisory or lead experience in a healthcare front office setting strongly preferred

Certifications
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Dermatology Coding Certification (DCS) preferred
  • HIPAA and OSHA compliance training a plus
