Job description

The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, is seeking applicants for Advancement Systems Manager and Reporting full time position.
Job Type: Full-Time, Benefits Eligible
Job Purpose:
The Raisers Edge Systems Manager is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the advancement fundraising database. This includes our prospects, donors, alumni and custom report generation. This position will play a crucial role in effectively managing and implementing a comprehensive database that will serve the needs of many departments, including, but not limited to, Advancement, Finance, President's Office, University Communication and Marketing, and Athletics. Other responsibilities include training new staff members on using The Raiser's Edge (advancement fundraising database), data entry and data security. This individual will work closely with the Gift Recording Specialist and the Prospect Manager to ensure accuracy of data entry and assist with gift entry when needed.
Job Duties:
  • Maintain Advancement fundraising database to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain security and user access for all users of The Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud Merchant Services, etc.
  • Create advanced queries, exports and custom reports in order to analyze institutional fundraising and progress for the Office of Advancement, the Board of Trustees, and other areas of campus.
  • Analyze report data to assist in the creation of general and individual solicitation strategies.
  • Develop processes that will help in efficiency and timeliness for reporting numbers shared with the Board, President or Leadership.
  • Run and distribute monthly fundraising reports.
  • Create mail lists for various university mailings.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for gift acknowledgement and gift processing.
  • Format, prepare, and perform regular data imports into The Raiser's Edge which includes student records, parent records, demographics, event attendees and other data, as needed.
  • Create online forms and pages.
  • Process online gifts, registrations and information updates from NXT.
  • Develop, maintain and update policies and procedures for data entry.
  • Prepare and submit a yearly Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) report to the Council for Aid to Education (CAE).
  • Work with the Business Office to complete yearly IRS 990 Schedule B report.
  • Work with the Business Office to complete the yearly pledge receivables report for audit.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training and support to all users of The Raiser's Edge.
  • Upgrade and trouble-shoot workstations running The Raiser's Edge.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Starting Salary: $58,000-$78,000

Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Data Administrator within a fundraising or development environment preferred.
  • Experience administering and maintaining the Raiser's Edge database system required.
  • Advanced knowledge of fundraising operations and alumni relations, preferably within higher education institutions.
  • Strong computer proficiency with advanced analytical and data management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage budgets, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and support staff while fostering a positive team environment.

Bachelor degree required, master degree preferred.
