This advertisement will be used to fill one (1) full-time and two (2) part-time Senior Clerk positions.

$17.00/hour

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position is a sales and marketing support position and is responsible for performing duties related to customer service, sales of Lottery products, validation and payment of winning claims, preparation of promotional book inventory, and various administrative tasks. This position may require travel, and the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Each employee is expected to be knowledgeable of the Lottery's Responsible Gaming program, including the No Underage Play and Play Within Your Means messaging, and will ensure retailers and players are aware of the program and provided information, as necessary.
  • Greets players courteously and professionally, in person and by phone.
  • Answers questions and provides information on how to play all Lottery games.
  • Assists players by responding to questions relating to prize validation and payments.
  • Serve as a customer service representative for calls made to the district office.ย  ย 
  • Pay/validation operator and assists players in completing claims for prizes greater than $599.00.
  • Primary or secondary ticket sales redemption.
  • Validates and processes claims and pays prizes.
  • Performs daily and weekly cash procedures including reconciliation and documentation, deposits, and adjustments.
  • Secondary to complete district weekly settlement package.
  • Assists with general banking including making bank deposits.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all Lottery merchandise items issued to the district office, and accurately records all transactions to appropriately account for these items as prescribed by established policies and procedures.ย 
  • Performs monthly inventory audits on promotional inventory as well as quarterly inventory audits.
  • Primary for issues/returns, receives, sorts, and stores promotional merchandise which requires moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Performs warehouse-related duties including shipping, receiving, and organizing which may require moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Compiles and analyzes data for administrative decisions.
  • May occasionally be required to review and process retailer applications, renewals, online site surveys, Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), NSFs and maintain retailer files in the district office.
  • Performs routine clerical duties including answering and routing telephone calls and establishing and maintaining office filling systems.
  • May process and/or ship full/partial book returns.
  • Processes fleet paperwork and maintains service records, coordinates maintenance, and performs monthly fleet inspections for the district office.
  • May occasionally be required to prepare, audit, track, and maintain records of travel expenses-related vouchers.
  • Creates or updates reports as directed.
  • Develop and update district flyers.
  • Maintains documentation/files for the fax machine.
  • Promotes and sells Lottery tickets.
  • Participates in sales events, which may include the set-up and break-down of promotional events which will require moving promotional display items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Reviews and coordinates implementation of statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • May occasionally be required to process, track, and maintain pending Lottery purchase requisitions; and perform purchase-related tasks.
  • Performs special assignments, research, and report preparation.
  • Operates motor vehicle as required to fulfill the duties of the position, which may include overnight trips.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.

ย KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of warehouse and district office procedures as it relates to Fortune.
  • Holds and maintains a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to travel as required by the position which may require operating a motor vehicle and overnight travel.
  • Ability to move 50 lbs.
  • Skill in computer programs of the agency i.e., e-mail, and word processing.
  • Computer skills to include the ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Knowledge of Fortune functions policies and procedures.

ย MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Successful passing of aย criminalย background checkย (state, local, and national) is required.ย 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of information learned while working with the Florida Lottery, whether learned through assigned duties or through working with other units.ย  The types of confidential information may include, but are not limited to, payroll information, budget matters, policy decisions, tax matters, employee disciplinary issues, and other personnel data.
