Solved Engineering Inc. is an SBA 8(a) certified engineering consulting firm providing utility engineering, power delivery, transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, and infrastructure engineering services to investor-owned utilities, federal agencies, municipalities, and private clients throughout the United States.

Position Summary

Solved Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support major electric utility transmission projects throughout California.

The successful candidate will lead engineering design efforts for high-voltage overhead transmission projects, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with utility clients, and provide technical leadership on complex transmission line design assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering (required)
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) License (required)
  • Minimum 7 years of overhead transmission line engineering experience
  • Extensive experience with transmission tower design
  • Advanced proficiency using:
    • PLS-CADD
    • PLS-TOWER
  • Experience with:
    • NESC
    • ASCE Manual 74
    • Steel lattice towers
    • Tubular steel poles
    • Transmission foundations
  • Experience performing line routing and structure loading analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of utility consulting experience
  • Experience with California utilities such as:
    • SDG&E
    • SCE
    • PG&E
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Project management experience
  • Foundation design knowledge
  • Familiarity with PLS-POLE and LPILE

Responsibilities

  • Lead overhead transmission line engineering projects
  • Develop transmission line models using PLS-CADD
  • Perform structural loading using PLS-TOWER
  • Design transmission structures and foundations
  • Prepare construction drawings and engineering calculations
  • Review deliverables for QA/QC
