Job description

Build the operating system for a fast-moving real estate capital platform.
  • Role: Head of Origination Systems & AI
  • Location/Type: New York City - Full-time, NYC-based
  • Pay: $200,000-$225,000 base + bonus + equity
  • Schedule: Full-time startup pace
Role Snapshot

Our client connects institutional capital with local real estate operators.

You will own the systems behind origination, underwriting, onboarding, draw management, and reporting.

This is not a pure software role. It is not a pure product role.

It is a hands-on systems role for someone who knows asset origination and is genuinely AI-native in how they learn, prototype, and solve practical problems.

Important distinction: basic ChatGPT or Claude chat usage is not enough by itself. The right person is curious enough to stay on the frontier of AI-assisted building tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools, even if that experimentation happened outside their formal job. A personal app, workflow automation, script, dashboard, prototype, or practical tool counts if it shows hands-on curiosity, SDLC awareness, and a bias toward making usable things.

What You'll Do
  • Own origination, underwriting, draw management, and partner onboarding.
  • Build reporting loops that improve every next decision.
  • Turn expert workflows into repeatable operating systems.
  • Use AI-assisted building tools to reduce manual work, prototype workflows, and clarify requirements.
  • Coordinate underwriting, closing, onboarding, and asset teams.
  • Translate operating reality into PRDs, SOPs, dashboards, internal tools, and automation opportunities.
  • Ship process changes without heavy committees.
  • Create the pipes between capital and local originators.
Must-Haves
  • 3-7 years at an asset originator.
  • Direct loan or financial-asset origination experience.
  • Hands-on underwriting, onboarding, draw, or reporting exposure.
  • Genuine AI-native curiosity: hands-on experimentation with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted coding/building tools to solve a practical problem, even if personal.
  • Practical understanding of the software development lifecycle: scoping, requirements, testing, iteration, deployment/release, and feedback loops. You do not need to be a production engineer, but you need to understand how software gets built and shipped.
  • Startup pace; high ownership; low need for oversight.
  • New York City based.

No originator experience = not a fit.

Nice To Have
  • SFR, DSCR, HELOC, HEI, or home-equity exposure.
  • Experience at tech-forward lending or origination platforms.
  • Loan operating system or workflow automation experience.
  • Deployed a personal app, internal tool, script, dashboard, or workflow automation.
  • Experience translating operating workflows into PRDs, build specs, data requirements, or acceptance criteria.
  • Comfort working directly with founders.
Perks & Pay
  • Pay: $200,000-$225,000 base.
  • Bonus: year-end upside for strong execution.
  • Equity: available for the right person.
  • Benefits: medical, dental, and vision fully paid.
  • Title: senior title can flex with experience.
Schedule & Setup
  • Full-time, New York City based.
  • Fast 25-person startup environment.
  • Work directly with founders and function leads.
  • AI-assisted building tools are expected to be part of how you learn, prototype, and stay sharp, not just a side hobby.

Your work turns a fragmented origination process into a scalable platform.

Own the operating system day one.

You like pace and ownership. You start, finish, follow through.

At Urrly, fairness matters. We use AI to review every application against the same clear requirements for the role. This means every candidate is evaluated on job-related factors like skills, certifications, and experience - not on personal attributes such as gender, race, age, or background. Our goal is to create a more objective, consistent, and equal opportunity hiring process for all applicants.

Apply today to own a high-impact systems role in real estate origination.
