What is an OPT Accounting intern?

OPT Accounting Interns are international students in the United States who are authorized to work temporarily in accounting roles through Optional Practical Training (OPT) as part of their F-1 visa status. These internships provide practical, hands-on experience in accounting, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business environments. OPT Accounting Interns may assist with tasks such as bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits, while gaining valuable exposure to U.S. accounting standards and workplace culture.

What does an OPT Accounting intern do?

As an OPT Accounting Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of tasks such as assisting with accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial reports, participating in audits, and supporting month-end closing processes. Interns often collaborate closely with senior accountants and other departments to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with company policies. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to apply accounting principles in real-world scenarios, develop technical skills, and gain exposure to standard industry software.
