Job description

1st, 2nd and 3rd shift openings

Summary:

  • The Process Lead is responsible for production operations within their designated area of the Hebron Klosterman Bakery.

Responsibilities:

The Process Lead job responsibilities, tasks and key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Complete shift hand-offs and line inspections with other Process Leads within the designated department.
  • Understand operational or equipment issues in the department.
  • Review production schedule to see what items are scheduled on the shift.
  • Facilitate pre-shift meetings with employees on your team to discuss current topics for the shift.
  • Safety memos and safety topics
  • Team expectations for the day
  • Allow employees to bring up current issues and concerns and answer questions from your team.
  • Ensure all employees on your team are wearing uniforms properly, have proper PPE, and are following GMPโ€™s as required.
  • Review employee attendance and report any absent employees to the Shift Leader immediately.
  • Review employee disciplinary actions with employees on your team as required.
  • Monitor employees on your team are present and on time to work.
  • Monitoring employee breaks and reporting issues to the Shift Leader if applicable.
  • Ensure all team members are working safely throughout the shift.
  • Review QCP documentation to ensure monitoring activities are being completed accurately and recorded properly.
  • Verifying QCP documentation at the end of the shift and turning all paperwork into the Quality Department.
  • Monitor employee break areas, locker rooms and uniform rooms to ensure areas remain in a clean and sanitary condition throughout the shift.
  • Performing changeover verification checks to ensure proper set up of equipment, correct ingredients and raw materials for the production run are available, and recording all changeover activities on the Changeover Verification Checklist at each product changeover.
  • Verifying metal detector effectively detects and rejects test wands throughout the shift.
  • Verifying finished product lot codes are correct and legible.
  • Verifying labels match the item being produced.
  • Verifying finished product is within specification throughout the shift.
  • Verifying dough ball weights and finished product weights throughout the shift and correcting any identified issues.
  • Verifying proofer and oven temperature is within specification throughout the shift.
  • Providing support to employees on your team throughout the shift as needed.
  • Communicating with the Maintenance Department on any equipment or operational issues identified throughout the shift.
  • Communicating with the Quality Department on any out of specification product identified throughout the shift.
  • Communicating with the Shift Leader on downtimes or excessive waste in your area.
  • Communicating with cross departmental personnel and management if extra support is needed throughout the shift.

Verification:

  • Verification of this job description will be conducted by the Shift Leader and Operations Excellence Production Manager through daily observation of job tasks and functions.

Training:

  • Training on this job description will take place initially upon hire, annually, as a refresher, and as needed with changes to personnel and job functions.

Records:

  • Employee training records are retained per Klosterman Baking Company record retention requirements.
