Job Summary

The Energy and Portfolio Performance Manager serves as a core technical expert driving sustainable energy strategies across a diverse Fortune 100 technology client portfolio. This role optimizes energy performance, reduces carbon footprints, and delivers measurable cost savings through data-driven analysis and strategic program implementation. Working collaboratively with energy managers, waste and water specialists, and utility data managers, you'll provide integrated sustainability solutions that balance operational excellence with environmental responsibility.

You'll analyze complex energy data, conduct comprehensive audits, and implement efficiency programs aligned with organizational sustainability goals. As a trusted advisor to facility management teams, engineering staff, and client stakeholders, you'll translate technical energy concepts into strategic recommendations that drive portfolio-level decision-making and demonstrate JLL's commitment to shaping a brighter, more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Energy Management

  • Develop and execute comprehensive energy management strategies across assigned portfolios, establish baseline metrics, performance targets, and multi-year roadmaps aligned with client sustainability goals
  • Lead benchmarking initiatives using internal platforms to position clients competitively and identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Monitor regulatory requirements, utility rate structures, and incentive programs to maximize financial benefits and ensure compliance

Technical Analysis & Auditing

  • Conduct ASHRAE Level 1 and Level 2 on-site energy audits to evaluate equipment performance, operational practices, and capital improvement opportunities
  • Analyze utility data, building automation systems, and energy consumption patterns to identify optimization opportunities worth quantifiable cost reductions
  • Evaluate financial viability of energy projects including HVAC upgrades, lighting retrofits, building envelope enhancements, and demand response programs

Program Implementation & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with property management teams, architects, and engineers to implement energy conservation measures and integrate high-performance building strategies
  • Manage relationships with utility providers, energy consultants, and technology vendors to support program innovation and implementation
  • Track and verify energy savings from implemented projects, maintaining documentation for sustainability certifications (where applicable) and ESG reporting

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare detailed dashboards, technical reports, and executive presentations communicating energy performance, cost savings, carbon reductions, and strategic recommendations
  • Develop client deliverables that clearly articulate energy and carbon reduction opportunities across multiple building types and geographies
  • Present energy program results and recommendations to diverse audiences including property management teams, engineering staff, and client executives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with energy, waste, and water sustainability managers to develop integrated resource efficiency strategies
  • Explore cutting-edge technologies including controls optimization, load management, and employee engagement programs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying innovative energy management practices and emerging technologies

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, Environmental Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in energy management, energy program implementation, or sustainability operations across commercial real estate portfolios
  • Proven track record of identifying and implementing energy conservation measures that deliver measurable cost savings and carbon reductions
  • Strong understanding of building science principles, HVAC systems, building envelope design, and energy codes (ASHRAE 90.1, IECC)
  • Experience conducting energy audits and analyzing utility data to identify optimization opportunities
  • Proficiency with energy benchmarking tools (ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager) and building automation systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including C-suite executives
  • Demonstrated project management abilities with track record of delivering measurable results on time and within budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification highly desired
  • LEED AP with specialty, ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), or similar credentials
  • Experience managing energy programs across geographically dispersed portfolios with multiple building types
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, carbon accounting methodologies (GHG Protocol, SBTi), and life cycle assessment
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python) for automating workflows and data analysis
  • Experience with renewable energy procurement, demand response programs, and utility contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of building energy modeling software and performance simulation tools
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

Estimated compensation for this position:

84,600.00 - 115,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
