Job description

Position Summary

The Hospital Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations across Critical Care, Imaging, and Surgical Services. This role focuses on leading teams, coordinating workflow, and ensuring high standards of patient care through effective supervision, communication, and collaboration. The supervisor serves as a key link between clinical teams and hospital leadership, driving operational efficiency, staff development, and a culture of accountability and excellence.


Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Partner with hospital leadership to review daily priorities, operational needs, and strategic goals
  • Proactively communicate concerns related to staffing, scheduling, workflow, and equipment
  • Provide real-time oversight of departmental operations to ensure efficiency and high-quality outcomes
  • Support implementation and adherence to hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Lead daily team huddles to align staff on schedules, roles, and expectations
  • Supervise and coordinate staff assignments across departments to optimize workflow
  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and team-oriented culture
  • Support recruitment efforts, including participation in interviews and hiring decisions
  • Oversee onboarding and training programs for new hires by:
    • Developing structured training plans
    • Serving as a primary point of contact during onboarding
    • Ensuring consistency in training, performance expectations, and protocol adherence
  • Coordinate educational experiences for students and trainees, ensuring alignment with hospital standards
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to promote communication, engagement, and continuous improvement

Operational Oversight (Clinical Services)

  • Oversee daily patient care workflows, ensuring appropriate coordination of services and timely communication
  • Monitor accuracy and completeness of medical records and billing processes
  • Supervise patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Ensure proper staffing coverage and resource allocation across departments
  • Support clinical teams during high-demand situations, ensuring effective coordination and communication
  • Promote adherence to best practices in patient care, safety, and service delivery

Surgical & Procedural Operations Oversight

  • Ensure procedural areas are properly prepared, equipped, and compliant with safety and sterility standards
  • Oversee coordination of hospital schedules, staffing, and case flow
  • Support teams in maintaining high standards during procedures and perioperative care
  • Monitor processes related to equipment, instruments, and procedural readiness

Equipment & Facility Management

  • Oversee functionality, maintenance, and readiness of medical equipment and clinical spaces
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of supplies and medications in collaboration with inventory or pharmacy personnel
  • Support inventory management processes and resource planning
  • Promote compliance with safety regulations and workplace standards (e.g., OSHA, controlled substances)

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a central point of communication between clinical teams, administrative staff, and leadership
  • Collaborate with providers and support staff to improve workflow, efficiency, and patient outcomes
  • Partner with scheduling and administrative teams to coordinate patient services
  • Communicate effectively during urgent or high-pressure situations
  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives and case reviews
  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and professionalism in all team communications

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, team lead, or operations management role
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience in healthcare, clinical operations, or service-based environments preferred
