Regional Operations Director (Laboratory & Logistics Services)

LabCorp is seeking a Sub Regional Operations Director to join our team in Raleigh, NC.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm hours may vary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Regional Operations Director to lead and oversee operations across Courier/Logistics, Day/STAT, POL, Micro Laboratories, and Accessioning teams. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing financial performance, and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with strong operational, analytical, and people leadership capabilities who thrives in a complex, multi-site healthcare environment.
Job Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight for regional field operations including logistics, laboratory services, and accessioning
  • Monitor service delivery performance and ensure key service thresholds and turnaround times (TAT) are consistently achieved
  • Analyze productivity metrics and implement process improvements across all functional areas
  • Optimize courier routes, vendor relationships, and overall logistics efficiency
  • Continuously evaluate operational performance to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency

Customer & Service Excellence
  • Drive a culture of high-quality customer and patient care
  • Monitor service performance metrics, including customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery and client experience
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance service offerings and support client needs

Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage departmental budgets, including labor, overtime, vendor costs, and travel expenses
  • Monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Evaluate staffing models and align resource allocation with business needs
  • Approve and manage headcount and workforce planning decisions

Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, SOPs, and regulatory standards (federal, state, and laboratory regulations)
  • Monitor compliance and address any operational, staffing, or regulatory concerns
  • Oversee workplace safety protocols, including hazardous materials handling and infection control procedures

People Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers overseeing large, geographically dispersed teams
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment to improve employee performance and retention
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and staff training to meet operational goals
  • Monitor team performance and provide guidance to support continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) required
  • 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in healthcare operations or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience managing managers and large teams (250+ employees) across multiple locations
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Strong experience with staffing, scheduling, and multi-functional operations
  • Proven experience managing budgets and controlling operational costs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel up to 60%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in laboratory operations, accessioning, logistics, and hospital services
  • Prior Medical Technologist experience
  • Background in supply chain or operations management
  • Experience managing decentralized teams across multiple regions
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in diagnostic/laboratory environments

  • Must follow all workplace safety protocols and regulatory guidelines

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
