Job Description
The Vice President of Operations will support Operations in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, and Women's Health.
This role is responsible for providing executive leadership and day to day direction for all aspects of the services to be developed and delivered within Clinic operations; accountable for the short and long range planning, direction, and budgeting of both patient and non-patient care activities. The VP of Operations is responsible for overall strategic direction, business development, financial performance, improvement initiatives, physician collaboration, market share influence and growth, patient satisfaction and operational direction. Responsible for supervision, coordination, and direction of the operational areas including operations directors, clinical managers, personnel directly reporting to management and the completion of the Clinic's initiative with regard to maintaining a successful business operation. The Vice President of Operations provides oversight and leadership within assigned areas of responsibility. Manages overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and integrate the strategic direction and long and short term goals and objectives, focusing on systems, program development, quality and fiscal management, compliance and clinical management measures, physician relationships, outreach strategies, work culture enhancement and internal communication and consensus-building. Ensure that the Clinic's resources are focused enterprise-wide on optimally satisfying the health care needs of those we serve.
  • Ensure efficient and effective functionality of all Operations' departments under their purview. Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Meet regularly with department directors and provide direction regarding day-to-day operations of Clinic departments, implementing and developing Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Provide counsel to the Chief Executive Officer on matters pertaining to basic operational issues and policies of the Clinic to formulate and recommend new or revised operational policies, as well as monitor those implemented.
  • Responsible for both capital and operating budgets of assigned areas. Assist directors and participants in capital budget development.
  • Formulate business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain relevant controls and feedback systems to monitor the operation of all areas of responsibility.
  • Review performance data that may include quality, satisfaction, engagement, productivity and financial reports.
  • Participate in the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the area of responsibility. Prepare periodic reports for leadership to track goal accomplishments.
  • Lead colleagues using performance management and development process.
  • Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, as well as perform other related work which will promote an efficient Clinic operation and overall improved patient experience.
  • Responsible for integration, coordination, and planning of all Operational and Clinical Outreach areas including development of goals and objectives, priority establishment, budgeting, staffing, general direction and leadership, policy/procedure development, etc.
  • Provide support and serve as Administrative Liaison to the Operations and Building Committee.
  • Responsible for integration with Facilities Management for coordination and planning of all activities of clinic facilities, budgeting, staffing, general direction and leadership, policy/procedure development, oversight of all construction and/or facility renovation projects, etc. Also responsible for monitoring the department's success in achieving stated goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts between Operations, Outreach Services and Facility areas of the Clinic to assure patients, partners, associates and employees, as well as Clinic assets are safeguarded at all times.
  • Successfully integrate and support an effective physician recruitment plan, approach and retention strategy.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's or advanced degree in healthcare administration or healthcare related field preferred.
  • Experience with clinical and non-clinical support staff.
  • Five to ten (5-10) years' experience in medical senior management, hospital, physician practice or managed care organization.
  • Experience with process improvement preferred.

  • Ability to articulate vision and communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding matters related to their practice environment.
  • Ability to gain and keep confidence of physicians and staff.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office products, business management resources and tools.
  • Proactive decision maker with the ability to work with little or no supervision of direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Able to be an effective team member in a collaborative management environment.

Working Environment
  • Normal office environment.
  • Requires travel to various Clinic locations.

Salary
  • Approximate starting base salary of $190,000- Will be based on experience and qualifications, with bonus incentive opportunity.
