About the Role

Hall Prangle is seeking to hire a full-time legal assistant in its Chicago office who has at least five (5) years' experience as a litigation legal assistant, ideally in the medical malpractice or healthcare law field. The legal assistant will be assigned to three attorneys and work collaboratively with them and the other staff to efficiently provide our clients with the best possible results. The right candidate will be skilled and hard-working as well as pleasant and personable.


Responsibilities

Maintains attorneys' calendar.

Schedules court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and other engagements. Ensures there are no scheduling conflicts and notifies attorneys of pending deadlines.

Serves as intermediary between attorneys, firm personnel and the courts, relaying communications between each group.

Generates all correspondence.

Prepares and sends notices of filings, motions, and hearing to appropriate parties.

Creates and maintains client files, records, logs, and any other information in relation to case file.


What You will Need to Succeed

5+ years as a Legal Assistant within a law firm supporting attorneys practicing medical malpractice defense litigation or other defense litigation.

Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures of the law.

Knowledge of functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related agencies.

Highly proficient using MS Office Suites: Word, Excel, Outlook, Billing Software, and On-Line Document Management Software.

Expertise in using Outlook Calendars for scheduling and maintaining attorneys' busy court schedules.

Experience in creating and maintaining documents, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, and copying; coordinating case preparation.

Experience in tracking billing hours through billing software.

Must be highly organized, able to multitask and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong time management skills and strong attention to detail.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
