Job description

Senior DevOps Engineer

Skyfire empowers AI to present verified identities, access essential services and process payments without human intervention. From API account creation to monetizing websites, we drive commerce for the world's fastest-growing consumer base: AI agents. By enabling transactions between AI agents and digital resources of all kinds including LLMs, data platforms, websites, and API services, we're building the critical infrastructure for the AI Economy. Developers can create AI agents capable of handling complex tasks, creating accounts, paying for services and data, and earning revenue.

What You'll Do

  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines: Eliminate manual code deployments so teams can release updates multiple times a day without breaking things – Every time a developer finishes writing a piece of code, it should be automatically tested, built, and deployed.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC): Ensure that server environments are consistent, version-controlled, and can be spun up or torn down automatically in minutes – Write code to provision and manage infrastructure.
  • Build and manage containerization and orchestration: Ensure applications run exactly the same way on a developer's laptop as they do in the live production environment, while scaling efficiently – Package microservices into containers, build them, deploy them and manage them running simultaneously across multiple servers and environments.
  • Setup and monitor dashboards and alerting: Maintain system uptime (reliability) and create actionable alerts so the on-call engineer knows exactly what to do – Know that a system has malfunctioned / crashed before our customers do. Set up dashboards to track application performance, server health, and error rates.
  • Relentlessly automate manual tasks: Free up human time for complex problem-solving rather than repetitive button-pushing – Reduce "toil." Automate database backups, user access provisioning, log cleanups, scaling processes and more.
  • Administer cloud environments: Leverage cloud scalability while keeping architecture secure, fast, and cost-effective – Design secure cloud architectures, manage networks (VPCs), configure load balancers, and optimize cloud costs.
  • Integrate security (DevSecOps): "Shift left" on security, catching flaws early in the development lifecycle before they reach the public – Security is not an afterthought. Build automated security checks directly into our CI/CD pipeline – scanning for vulnerabilities, managing secret keys, and enforcing access policies.

What We're Looking For

  • Pipeline optimization & debugging skills: Do you know how to make pipelines fast and reliable, and more importantly, do you know what to do when they break?
  • A "Software Engineering" approach to ops: Do you treat infrastructure with the same rigor as application code?
  • Production-grade resilience: Have you managed Kubernetes clusters in production? How do you handle failures?
  • Awareness of signal-to-noise: Is "alert fatigue" a thing?
  • Pragmatism: What are your thoughts about Bash scripts vs big automation frameworks?
  • Awareness of costs and ability to make trade-offs: How do you balance performance, maintenance overhead, and cost?
  • Security knowledge and skills: How do you balance velocity (or friction) and security?
  • Analytical thinking and debugging skills: The ability to apply quick, analytical troubleshooting to debug failures under time constraints for smooth operations.
  • Quick learner: The ability to quickly experiment with, and learn, new and emerging
  • Communication: The ability to clearly and persuasively explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing.
  • Community orientation: A proactive persona that builds
  • Authenticity and trustworthiness: A genuine passion for AI and Agentic

Location

  • Hybrid: 3 days in the office in San Francisco, CA, USA or Toronto, ON, CAN

Tech Stack

  • JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, React, Postgres, Redis, GitHub, Render, AWS

If you are driven, quick, and love to learn, experiment, share, & develop relationships, then this is the role for you! Rarely does anyone meet all requirements. Please apply even if you think you are a partial match.
