Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-focused engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.
District Overview
Kiewit's Oil, Gas, and Chemical Engineering Group is a full-service engineering firm. Our combined staff of engineers and design professionals has expertise that spans all major engineering disciplines, serving the LNG, midstream, refining and petrochemical markets. With unparalleled experience, our construction-focused engineering prioritizes constructability and safety in the earliest phases of projects to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
Location
This position is based out of our Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX and typically requires less than 25 percent travel.
Responsibilities
• Manage engineering design principles and procedures to performing intricate engineering design work.
• Manage other design group team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design and development; utilize project database to request reviews, hold list, requests for information, and other disciplines.
• Develop plans, drawings, and 3D models; verify all designs meet structural quality and design standards.
• Prepare information needed to develop design drawings; create guidelines, checklists and other knowledge base documents, and mentor other team members in design and drafting techniques.
• Lead project meetings, pipe rack meetings, initial and design meetings, and inform managers of project decisions.
• Manage and file master sets, superseded drawings, and original drawings.
Qualifications
• Associate degree or High School diploma + 2 years' experience as a minimum
• 18-25 years' minimum relevant experience.
• Travel < 25% expected.
• Acts independently to determine methods and processes for assignments.
• Trains and leads team of designers as needed.
• Leads team for work with high complexity.
• Work with project team as representative and coordinates work within discipline department.
• Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
• Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations. Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
• Communicates effectively across all departments of organization.
• Works collaboratively across departments and with field to solve problems.
• Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
• Experience utilizing a computer-aided drafting program (MicroStation, AutoCAD, GeoPak, NavisWorks, S3D), and basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems.
• Continuously looking for ways to improve processes for customers and makes recommendations for improvements.
