Summary

The Paralegal will work to directly support the legal team of the OGC, effectively manage OGC files, documents and systems, and support legal/non-legal members in fulfilling the responsibilities of the OGC. This position handles a variety of routine and administrative tasks under direct supervision. Incumbents will support special projects as needed for OGC/Moffitt globally. Specific duties may encompass (but are not limited to) the following depending upon assigned support area (ex. contracting, clinical affairs, clinical trial transactions, research, employment and/or litigation): Manage files and projects, prepare documents, perform basic research, and provide support to both legal and non-legal members of the Institution in an effort to fulfill the responsibilities of the OGC. Review, analyze, and interpret contractual language including, but not limited to, terms and conditions, scope of work, duration, price, warranty, indemnification, and confidentiality provisions, for the Institution's contracts. Draft, redline, amend, and negotiate contracts and business transaction documents under the direct supervision of assigned supervising attorney in the OGC. Promote and ensure compliance with the Institution's contracting processes by facilitating and monitoring the initiation, progression, and finalization of its contracts, including adhering to all applicable timelines and overseeing the successful completion of the necessary review, negotiation, and execution of the Institution's contracts. Understand and adhere to current and internal policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as developments in healthcare law. The Ideal Candidate: The legal services portion of duties will be to provide legal support to OGC and Moffitt management and staff regarding various legal matters, including those related to employee relations, bio-medical focused research, intellectual property, grants, ethics and regulatory compliance, and related contracting. Preference will be given to candidates with experience assisting in litigation and employment law matters, including preparing internal case files, managing discovery with outside counsel, and supporting OGC attorneys in employment-related disputes and compliance issues. Candidate should be able to display good organization, problem-solving, and computer skills. Candidate should possess excellent research, written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, faculty, customers, and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of the Internet and Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook software. Paralegal Duties Directly support the legal team of the OGC, effectively manage OGC files, documents and systems, and support legal/non-legal members in fulfilling the responsibilities of the OGC. This position handles a variety of routine and administrative tasks under direct supervision. Incumbents will support special projects as needed for OGC/Moffitt globally. Assist OGC in preparing, circulating and filing legal opinions, contracts, corporate and other legal documents, including the preparation and submission of government reports, annual corporate reports and related filings. Assist with litigation projects, including filing of motions, redacting motions, and preparation of printed materials, as needed. Assist with large OGC and institutional initiatives and special projects. Draft, review and revise OGC correspondence. Draft, review, revise, and maintain OGC responsible Institutional Policy revision and processes; responsible for proper tracking as assigned. Draft, review, and revise OGC documents, including agreements, policies, meeting minutes and forms. Under the supervision of an attorney, research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to research and pull relevant case law. Interact with outside institutional and individual contractors, partners or affiliates effectively. Support cross-departmental initiatives related to area of practice (ex. contracting, clinical affairs, clinical trial transactions, research, employment and/or litigation). Contract Management Assist OGC in contract management and the associated contract workflows. Proficient usage of Moffitt's contract management system. Document Management Assist OGC in document management (filing documents under appropriate folders, pulling documents from files upon request, updating agendas, index contracts, upload documents to system, etc.), entering edits from various team members into legal documents, formatting documents and presentations. Proficient usage of the OGC document management system(s). Prepare/edit operating procedures for the day-to-day operations of OGC and recommend changes to enhance effectiveness of these procedures. Additional Duties as Assigned Other duties as assigned by OGC leadership. Participate in paralegal pool as assigned. Credentials and Qualifications: Position requires an Associate's degreein Paralegal, Business or related field(Bachelor's degree a plus) plus a minimum of two (2) years of paralegal experience. -OR- In lieu of an Associate's degree, a High School Diploma with an additional two (2) years of direct legal assistant/paralegal experience plus the two (2) years (for a total of 4years) experience may be considered.

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
