The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.
The NYC Police Department is seeking interested GRADUATE and LAW SCHOOL students for our 2026 Summer Internship Program. Summer Interns are employed in various NYPD commands for up to 13 weeks between June and September 2026.
Intern duties may include the following:
- Preparation of spreadsheet and reports
- Research
- Statistical analysis
- Computer work requiring intermediate level computer skills and/or knowledge of specific applications and programs
- Accounting or bookkeeping duties
- Legal research and paralegal work
- Forensic science analysis and research
- Assistance on projects related to policy initiatives
Interns will be matched to assignments based on their major.
WORK LOCATION:
Various work locations available in New York City.
HOURS/SHIFT:
Full Time; 35 hours per week
