Job description

Observability Engineer
The Opportunity:
Every transaction, every user click, every API call flows through observability before it becomes an insight, an alert, or an automated action. You are the engineer who makes that pipeline work.
We are seeking an Observability Engineer with expertise in enterprise monitoring and integration development to join a team delivering full-stack visibility across 250+ mission-critical services supporting enterprise operations. You will deploy monitoring agents, onboard applications, build dashboards, develop integrations, and review incidents to find where monitoring was missing so the next one gets caught. This role has a clear growth path into AIOps, automation, and agentic AI as the program scales, with opportunities to build new observability platforms from the ground up as we expand into new environments. You will also mentor and may supervise team members. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

You Have:
  • 3+ years of experience in IT operations, monitoring, observability, and systems engineering
  • Experience deploying and operating Dynatrace for application and infrastructure monitoring, including agent deployment, management zones, dashboards, and alerting
  • Experience configuring Real User Monitoring (RUM) and building operational dashboards tied to SLOs
  • Experience writing automation and integration code in Python, JavaScript, Bash, and PowerShell
  • Experience building integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, data connectors, and OpenTelemetry pipelines
  • Experience reviewing incidents after resolution to identify monitoring gaps and recommend instrumentation improvements
  • Experience working in Agile environments with sprint-based delivery
  • Knowledge of network monitoring fundamentals, including SNMP, SNMP traps, Syslog, or NetFlow
  • Knowledge of application architectures, including microservices, containers, and API gateways
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or Information Technology field

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with Dynatrace Synthetic monitoring, Session Replay, AppSec, digital experience monitoring, and Dynatrace Intelligence
  • Experience with ServiceNow Event Management, including event rules, alert management rules, alert correlation, alert lifecycle, including creation, acknowledgment, remediation, and closure, CMDB fundamentals with CI relationships and dependencies, ITOM concepts, ITSM integration for automated incident creation, Glide API, and ITIL practices
  • Experience deploying monitoring agents and observability tooling in government cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or IL4/IL5, including restricted network and STIG-hardened deployments
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/EFK
  • Experience with containerization and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with Splunk, Splunk Enterprise Security (SIEM), Cribl, and SolarWinds
  • Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code, and Dynatrace Configuration as Code, including Monaco
  • Experience using observability data for capacity planning and infrastructure forecasting
  • Dynatrace Associate or Professional Certification or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Event Management (CIS-EM) Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
