Job description

Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS) LLC is seeking an Observability Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise monitoring and observability solutions for mission-critical systems. This role will focus on improving system visibility, reliability, and performance through logging, telemetry, alerting, and dashboard development.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting large-scale production environments and working closely with DevOps, SRE, engineering, and cybersecurity teams to ensure systems are observable, resilient, and operationally efficient.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, implement, and maintain observability and monitoring solutions. 
  • Manage log collection, ingestion, correlation, and analysis across multiple data sources. 
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and reporting to monitor system health, performance, and availability. 
  • Analyze infrastructure, application, and network telemetry to identify issues and trends. 
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and support incident response activities. 
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, SRE, and cybersecurity teams to improve monitoring coverage and operational visibility. 
  • Support SLA and performance objectives through proactive monitoring and alerting. 
  • Ensure monitoring data is properly collected, tagged, and correlated. 
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 8+ years of experience in observability, monitoring, systems engineering, SRE, platform engineering, cybersecurity engineering, or related disciplines. 
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms 
  • Experience with log management, telemetry collection, dashboard development, and alerting. 
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure monitoring, including compute, storage, network, and application performance. 
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and supporting production incident resolution. 
  • Ability to work in Agile development environments. 
  • Ability to obtain SAFe Scrum Master certification if not already certified.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with OpenObserve, Fluentd, or other log ingestion technologies. 
  • Experience with platforms such as Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, OpenObserve, Datadog, Dynatrace, or similar tools. 
  • Experience with cloud-based monitoring and automation. 
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity monitoring or security telemetry initiatives. 
  • Experience with API integrations and monitoring automation. 
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted monitoring or AIOps platforms.
