M&J is seeking two (2) Inspectors to conduct façade and building inspections in NYC. This position assists with field investigations, documentation, condition assessments, and reporting related to building envelope systems and façade safety compliance. The role involves extensive field work, site observations, photographic documentation, and coordination with engineers, architects, contractors, and property managers to support façade inspection and restoration projects.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for helping QEWI in managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of survey field crew; conduct visual inspections using binocular and close-up inspections using suspended scaffolding, take notes and photographs, help QEWI prepare the report as per the guidelines outlined by NYCDOB and our clients (possibly NYCHA); help prepare the TR6 and other reports to file with DOB.
Qualifications
The selected Inspector must meet the following qualifications:
The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering plus three (3) years of relevant experience in facade design, construction, or inspection;
Have worked under the direct supervision of a DOB qualified QEWI;
Have performed critical visual and close-up inspections (drops) and specialized probes of cavity wall construction of high-rise buildings using suspended scaffolding;
Have experience assisting in gathering photo documentation, marking the defects on the field drawing and drawing sketches of defected elements;
Familiarity with NYC building codes and FISP rules.
