Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Building Facade Inspector to join our growing team in the NYC area. This role involves performing exterior building inspections, documenting façade conditions, and supporting compliance with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and FISP requirements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with façade assessments, strong report-writing skills, and the ability to work safely at heights and around active construction sites.

  • Perform visual and close-up inspections of building façades, parapets, balconies, fire escapes, and related exterior elements.
  • Identify and document structural distress, deterioration, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, field notes, photographs, and repair recommendations.
  • Assist with FISP (Façade Inspection Safety Program) filings and DOB documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and property managers.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols.
  • Conduct site visits throughout the NYC metropolitan area and occasionally supervise access setups such as scaffolds, lifts, or rope access operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in façade inspection, building envelope consulting, and construction inspection.
  • Knowledge of NYC building façades, masonry, concrete, steel, and waterproofing systems.
  • Familiarity with NYC DOB/FISP regulations and inspection procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors, climb ladders, and access elevated areas safely.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Scaffolding certification.
  • Experience with scaffold/lift inspections and field testing methods.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the NYC area.

Preferred

  • Engineering or architecture background (B.S. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline).
