Job description

Job Title: Construction Safety Auditor (Part‑Time / On‑Call)
Location:
Various Construction Sites Across NYC
Schedule: As Needed / On‑Call (2-hour site inspections)
Credential Required: NYC DOB Construction Safety Inspector (CSI)
Position Summary The Construction Safety Auditor will conduct short-duration (2‑hour) safety inspections across active construction sites throughout New York City. This role supports compliance with NYC Department of Buildings requirements, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards, and internal safety protocols. This is a flexible, part‑time, on‑call opportunity suited for experienced safety professionals capable of providing objective, high‑quality field audits.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scheduled and on‑call 2-hour safety audits on active NYC construction sites.
  • Evaluate compliance with NYC Building Code Chapter 33, DOB permit conditions, and approved Site Safety Plans.
  • Review ongoing work activities for compliance with OSHA 1926 standards.
  • Identify hazardous conditions, unsafe work practices, and regulatory violations.
  • Prepare detailed, photo-supported audit reports with corrective action recommendations.
  • Communicate findings with project managers, site supervisors, and safety personnel.
  • Follow up on previously identified deficiencies as required.
  • Promote safe work practices and support a positive safety culture across project teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 62-Hour NYC SST Card
  • The following certifications obtained within the last five (5) years:
    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry
    • 8-Hour Confined Space – Construction
    • 16-Hour Suspended Scaffold
    • 4-Hour Supported Scaffold
  • Strong knowledge of NYC DOB regulations, NYC Building Code, and OSHA construction standards.
  • Ability to travel across all five boroughs, including short‑notice assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, objective inspection reports.
Specific Experience
  • Construction safety field inspection experience of building and infrastructure projects, including large construction projects.
