Job Summary
Harrison Community Schools in Harrison, Michigan, is seeking an energetic and innovative Director of Dining Services to lead a successful nutrition program serving approximately 1,400 students across five school buildings. This leader will oversee a team of 19 associates, including a chef and administrative assistant, while building on a long-standing partnership with the district. With a strong catering program already in place, the successful candidate will drive operational excellence, increase participation, and bring fresh ideas that enhance the dining experience for students and the school community.
The ideal candidate is an organized, people-focused leader with strong communication, customer service, and team-building skills. A passion for developing employees, building relationships, and delivering exceptional service is essential, while catering and culinary experience are a plus. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a thriving program, make a meaningful impact on students, and enjoy a Monday-Friday schedule with excellent work-life balance, including evenings, weekends, and holidays off.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all P&L and budgeting as it pertains to the account
  • Maintains excellent relationships with the client
  • Works with the team to create nutritious, high-quality food for students
  • Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams
  • Acts as a liaison between Chartwells, the client, and the community
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the dining services operation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Management, Hospitality, Culinary, or Nutrition preferred; additional food service management experience preferred
  • Three or more years of food service management experience
  • K-12 dining experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Financial acumen with strong business intuition
