Nutrition Program Commodities AssociateLocation: Bronx, NY

New York Common Pantry is one of the cityโ€™s largest hunger relief organizations, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization experiencing rapid growth and expansion.

NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach. Last year, we assisted over 764,000 visitors, served over 11.7 million meals, and accessed $10.7 million in public benefits resources for our guests. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.

NYCP is seeking a Nutrition Program Commodities Associate to join our LH! Team. The primary purpose of the role is an integral part of NY Common Pantry's Live Healthy! Team, supporting the needs of the SNAP-Es III Program - Nutrition Education and Food Equity initiatives. The support is needed in the inventory and delivery of food and non-food supplies, helping with incentive tracking, inventory, and supporting food distribution events, assisting in packing & distribution while at the site, and assisting with data entry.

The Nutrition Program Commodities Associate will report to the Director of Nutrition at the 788 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY,10455 location, and at other NYCP locations as needed. This is a part-time position, up to 28 hours a week, non-exempt. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break, including some Saturdays.

*Please note that this is a grant-funded position with funding anticipated up to September 30, 2026. Continuation of this position is dependent on contract renewal.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and support office operations, including overseeing facilities and maintaining inventory of supplies.

  • Support the administrative needs of Live Healthy! Team.

  • Assist with data entry, organize files, records, and documents to support efficient data retrieval.

  • Manage the inventory of food and non-food supplies for the Live Healthy! team.

  • Oversee proper storage of food and supplies while adhering to food safety guidelines.

  • Participate in the planning, preparation, and streaming of Recipe Club content.

  • Contribute to promotional initiatives and facilitate the effective distribution of program materials to reach and engage a wider audience.

  • Organize crates in pallets with the packed produce bags for each of our pantry locations.

  • Assist with Farm Share operations and logistics for deliveries and site coordination. Pick up, drop off, and unload Farm Share deliveries.

  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.

  • Oversee the printing and preparation of materials for LH activities, ensuring they are ready and accessible for all involved.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to drive as needed is preferred.

  • Experience operating a box truck is required.

  • Experience using a hand truck and/or pallet jack is required.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.

  • Travel between multiple job locations.

  • Commitment to helping the communities in need and NYCPโ€™s work and mission.

  • Forklift experience is a plus.

  • Comfortable working with diverse populations.

  • Experience with food safety and food handling principles is a plus.

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Multitask in a fast-paced office environment.

  • Weekend work may be necessary.
