Job description

Part-Time Library Page
The Clapp Memorial Library is looking to fill a Library Page position. The primary responsibility of the Library Page is to re-shelve returned library materials and maintain the order and appearance of the stacks in accordance with standard library policies and procedures. This part-time position will work up to ten hours per week.
Essential Duties
  • Accurately shelve library materials in their proper location and are in correct order;
  • Maintain the library and its collection in good order by picking up and re-shelving materials used in the library;
  • Empty the book return once per shift;
  • Neatly arrange materials in the stacks and rearrange shelves as necessary to maintain orderly and accessible shelves;
  • Perform direct patron services as needed: retrieve books and periodicals when requested, answer directional and basic informational questions;
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read and write English at the high school level; Ability to work with library staff and the general public; Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks; Ability to maintain focus and stay on task; Ability to regularly and punctually attend work; Basic computer skills. No previous work experience is required. High school students are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements: Moderate physical effort is required in performing functions under typical library conditions. Successful candidate required to lift up to 30 pounds and stack books, and may be required to move furniture. Intermittent walking, reaching, crouching, climbing, and similar activities are required. Ability to use a computer keyboard and telephone.
