Job description

The National Football League is seeking a transactional attorney who will be responsible for supporting a broad range of media-related transactions and related advisory work. This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic in-house legal team that supports the NFL's media business units and content licensing strategy. Strong candidates will possess an understanding of distribution and licensing models, especially in the context of digital media and emerging technology, and will have experience reviewing, structuring, and drafting content-related agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft and negotiate content licenses and distribution agreements with traditional and emerging platforms, with a meaningful focus on digital media - including social media platforms, video syndication partners, content platforms and device manufacturers and other digital outlets
  • Structure, draft and negotiate agreements in connection with the production of shortform content with digital partners and app distribution agreements
  • Support the NFL's direct-to-consumer products and initiatives, including assisting with drafting promotional and co-marketing agreements, reviewing creative materials, and regularly auditing relevant policies (e.g., terms and conditions, FAQs, "how to" tutorials)
  • Deliver ongoing analysis and day-to-day legal advice in connection with a wide variety of media-related agreements as well as strategic and operational issues
  • Support senior attorneys and other executives in connection with contract negotiations and meetings with League partners and NFL internal stakeholders
  • Provide legal/business affairs support as needed for other NFL projects and initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited 4-year university/college and J.D. from accredited law school
  • 3+ years of experience in a transactional legal role at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a media/entertainment/technology company
  • Strong drafting experience in the media/content/technology space
  • Established proficiency with complex agreements and familiarity with distribution, licensing and direct-to-consumer models
  • Valid membership in good standing in New York state bar
