Unlike traditional agent programs, our goal isn't simply to recruit agents it's to help entrepreneurs build and control valuable businesses.

As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Recruiting & Development Manager to help identify exceptional freight professionals, introduce them to Margin Freight, and support their long-term success.

The Recruiting & Development Manager is responsible for attracting, recruiting, and retaining high-quality independent freight agents. This individual serves as the primary driver of agent growth by building recruiting pipelines, developing industry relationships, and helping agents uncover opportunities to grow their businesses. While this role will regularly engage with existing agents, its primary responsibility is to identify and recruit new agent partners. The ideal candidate is a relationship builder who enjoys networking, business development, and helping entrepreneurs succeed.

ResponsibilitiesAgent recruiting (primary responsibility)
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard experienced freight brokerage professionals and independent agents
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective agent candidates
  • Conduct outbound prospecting through phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, networking, and industry events
  • Qualify candidates based on production history, business goals, cultural fit, and growth potential
  • Present Margin Freight's value proposition, technology platform, compensation model, and path to independence
  • Coordinate candidate meetings and guide prospects through the recruiting process
  • Maintain accurate recruiting activity and pipeline records within CRM systems
  • Develop referral relationships with current agents and industry partners
  • Partner with leadership to continuously improve recruiting strategies and messaging
Agent development & retention
  • Maintain regular communication with existing agents
  • Build trusted relationships that encourage long-term retention and engagement
  • Review agent performance data to identify growth opportunities and potential challenges
  • Help agents uncover opportunities related to:
    • Customer growth
    • LTL pricing opportunities
    • Margin improvement
    • Technology utilization
    • Operational efficiencies
  • Coordinate with internal teams to connect agents with the appropriate resources needed to pursue those opportunities
  • Escalate agent concerns and work collaboratively with Operations, Pricing, Product, and Leadership teams to remove obstacles.
  • Identify retention risks and proactively engage agents
Strategic growth
  • Track recruiting, retention, and agent growth metrics
  • Gather feedback from agents and communicate trends to leadership
  • Identify opportunities to improve the overall agent experience
  • Support strategic initiatives designed to increase agent satisfaction, productivity, and retention
What this role is not

This position is not responsible for:

  • Agent onboarding execution
  • SOP creation or documentation management
  • Carrier negotiations
  • LTL pricing execution
  • Operational issue resolution
  • Product development

Instead, this individual serves as the connector between agents and the internal teams responsible for delivering those services.

QualificationsRequired
  • Experience in freight brokerage, transportation, logistics, or supply chain
  • Strong networking, recruiting, and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Self-motivated and highly organized
  • Comfortable conducting outbound recruiting efforts and business development activities
  • Ability to interpret business performance data and identify growth opportunities
  • CRM proficiency and strong technology skills
Preferred
  • Experience recruiting freight agents or transportation sales professionals
  • Experience working within an agent-based brokerage model
  • Familiarity with transportation operations and LTL pricing strategies
  • Experience in customer success, business development, or account management
