Job Description

Eramosa Engineering, A CIMA+ Owned Company, is a progressive and growing company specializing in the delivery of critical infrastructure in our communities.  Our team has a focus in municipal water / wastewater, electrical utilities, and renewable energy sectors as well as strategic pursuits in transit, transportation and mining. With over 25 years of experience spanning across all of our locations, we provide Electrical Engineering, System Integration, IT/OT, IoT services, and consulting to our client base across North America.

We are currently looking for a Building IT/OT Network Project Engineer to support our projects across Ontario and Canada. The role will have a strong focus on network infrastructure and architecture,  structured cabling, wireless,  and physical security in critical Operational Technology (OT) environments.

The role also comes with the opportunity for significant growth within the organization as the team expands. If you have a demonstrated background in the IT/OT space with a growth mindset, we have a technical leadership opportunity for you.

This role can be based either in our Guelph, Bowmanville, Toronto, or Mississauga office, on a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce network designs and architectures.
  • Complete structured cabling designs to determine routing through facilities for both fibre and copper networks.
  • Complete network rack layouts, including but not limited to server racks, network cores, fibre and copper patch panels, and distributed network communication enclosures around a facility.
  • Work closely with project managers for the successful completion of projects on time, on schedule, and on budget.
  • Leverage your experience to analyze the client’s needs and recommend solutions.
  • Design telecommunication and networking solutions in line with the client’s needs, including cabling infrastructure, fibre optic, microwave, wireless, LAN/WAN and firewalling.
  • Design CCTV and POE IP camera systems, including network architecture, software, and hardware selection.
  • Building access control system design including vendor selection and component level specifications.
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices in line with industry norms such as NERC CIP, NIST, and ISA/IEC 62443.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study such as Engineering or Computer Science
  • License to practice Engineering in Ontario (P.Eng designation or eligibility) is required
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ experience
  • Experience in industrial OT network design is considered an asset
  • Previous experience at a Consulting Engineering firm is considered an asset
  • Experience with network design in commercial space is also considered an asset
  • Active structured cabling certifications with BICSI (RCDD), or other recognized industry standard considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and design experience with multiple networking aspects from transport layer (copper/fibre/wireless/cellular), LANs, WANs, VLANs, server virtualization, servers, cloud systems, routing protocols, firewalls, DMZs, IT/OT convergence, and cybersecurity is critical for the role such that you can complete the required network designs.
  • Understanding the design documentation process and how Engineered drawings and specifications go hand in hand for owners to procure contractors is required
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding of industrial networks, protocols, and practices are considered an asset.
