We are more than 34,000 people, in over 30 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Project Manager with expertise in MTO to join our Roads and Highways Ontario team. You will be responsible for the delivery of Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) projects and supporting the continued growth of the firm's project management capability for MTO clients. This is a senior role that will involve contributing to practice plans, supporting business development, and delivering top-quality project management and engineering services to existing and new MTO clients.

This role is a combination of project delivery leadership and stakeholder management. In addition, you will contribute to discussions regarding the direction and growth of the MTO practice within the firm and provide input to continuous improvement of delivery approaches, tools, and standards.

Day-to-day activities within this role will involve managing project teams and supporting other project managers and technical leads, coordinating resources across Arcadis offices, and collaborating with other Arcadis business lines. Business development will be an important part of the role, including client relationship management with MTO and other public sector clients, marketing, and contributing to the development, writing, and review of proposals. You will typically undertake a Senior Project Manager role to lead the delivery of major MTO projects and key clients, supporting risk management through quality and technical reviews and following up on findings. Roles at this level should seek to enhance the business through excellent delivery, client satisfaction, and mentoring of project staff.

Role accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to take a Senior Project Manager role on a range of MTO projects, providing leadership, project management expertise, quality control, and oversight as required. You will provide consultancy services for projects, develop solutions that address complex MTO requirements, and build a professional profile and reputation within the industry and within Arcadis. You will support the delivery of specialized components of MTO projects by establishing effective project teams to achieve success. You will manage technical risk mitigation, safety, and value in project delivery processes; develop and deliver integrated project management programs with key performance milestones and reporting at all stages; and support the development of staff by coaching and mentoring on MTO-specific issues. You will help establish and consolidate relationships with MTO and other public sector clients, use your MTO project knowledge to identify and pursue new opportunities, and provide project management input into the bidding process.

In this role, you will work closely with project managers, technical leads, and multi-disciplinary project teams working on allocated MTO projects and clients. Project teams will be managed to ensure delivery to time and cost, and client expectations will be proactively managed. You will promote the regional and global culture of the business, support the development of staff assigned to your projects, and help identify specific training and mentoring needs to support consistent delivery quality.

You will support the recruitment process by providing input on role requirements and participating in interviews as needed. You will lead the delivery of complex MTO projects, ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management, and clear communication and collaboration between Arcadis colleagues. You will contribute to the management and delivery of innovative solutions for MTO clients that resolve complex problems, and coach and mentor professionals to support the development of Arcadis' talent pool.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 12+ years consulting experience on MTO or similar transportation projects of significant scale and/or complexity
  • P.Eng Ontario or eligibility is a must
  • Previous relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of project management and engineering solutions for MTO projects
  • Previously worked in a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager role and has significant MTO project management experience
  • RAQs qualification is an asset and preferred on the Highway Engineering and Bridge Engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated technical, commercial and project delivery acumen
