What is a network operations analyst?

A Network Operations Analyst is an IT professional responsible for monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting computer networks to ensure their optimal performance and security. They analyze network data, identify and resolve issues, and help maintain the reliability of network infrastructure. These analysts often work in network operations centers (NOCs) and may also assist in implementing upgrades and documenting network processes. Their role is crucial for minimizing downtime and supporting an organization’s daily operations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a network operations analyst?

To thrive as a Network Operations Analyst, you need a robust understanding of networking protocols, troubleshooting, and network infrastructure, typically supported by a degree in IT or a related field. • 2+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, or business operations roles.
  • Excellent analytical skills (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, financial modeling, etc.)
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and drive decisions with incomplete data.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with hardware, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
  • Experience with headcount and operating expense planning in technical organizations.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in translating cost insights into clear actions for technical and leadership teams.
