About the team and the role:

eBay, Inc. seeks Sr. MTS, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

What you will accomplish:

Job Duties: Enhance reliability and observability and collaborate closely with product developers to improve the reliability and observability of services and data pipelines. Responsible for designing and implementing custom observability solutions using eBay's internal platforms, ensuring that telemetry-comprising metrics, logs, and traces-will be effectively instrumented and actionable. Facilitate faster triage and root cause identification during production issues, laying the groundwork for new services to be built with reliability and debuggability from the outset. Develop tools that support Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), operations teams, and product development teams by simplifying the triaging of complex issues. Employ advanced techniques such as continuous profiling, heap analysis, and thread dump correlation to efficiently detect performance regressions or anomalies. Lead initiatives aimed at building resilient systems that enhance eBay's infrastructure during failure scenarios, ensuring graceful degradation or recovery when parts of the system become unavailable. Provide essential support to the Network Operations Center (NOC). Triage and mitigate incidents across eBay's infrastructure to minimize customer impact. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

What you will bring:

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information System, Business Administration or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information System, Business Administration or a closely related field plus seven years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Additional Details

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
