Job Summary

Job Title:          Network Engineer

Reports To:     IT Network Manager

The purpose of this position will include analyzing user requirements, processes, and problems in order to automate or improve existing processes or systems. Detailed design and programming specifications will be documented for the applications development.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with stakeholders to analyze user requirements, processes and problems.
  • Documents detailed descriptions of user needs, system functionality, and steps required to modify existing systems.
  • Designs computer systems including data and workflow documentation.
  • Prepares technical reports and instructional manuals as documentation of program development.
  • Assists application programmers in resolution of work problems related to flow charts, project specifications and programming.
  • Testing and quality assurance of systems deliverables.
  • Deployment of completed systems

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Other Requirements: Degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • 7+ years in administering networks
  • 7+ years of Firewall knowledge 7+ years of threat and vulnerability management and associated products
  • Must have displayed leadership and team centric skills and strong solution orientation
  • Must have a strong understanding of traffic flows
  • 7+ years of experience troubleshooting, identification, isolation, and resolution of network issues
  • Experience in large and complex assignments is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with a software defined or centralized management platform for network and security devices.
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols.  Specifically BGP
  • Experience working with network security mechanisms such as VPN, IPSEC and SSL
  • Experience working with and knowledge of, converged network solutions that deliver data, real-time video and voice over the same IP network
  • Experience working with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP/RMON and RDP
  • Previous experience configuring/administering LAN/WAN/MAN communications and network hardware such as hubs, routers, Ethernet switches, bridges, gateways, firewalls and load balancers
  • Experience with how a Layer 7 firewall works.
