Job description

The Network Infrastructure Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and secures Froedtert South's IT network, including hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, data center) and software, ensuring reliable connectivity, performance, and security for users, applications, and data, often involving network design, troubleshooting, security management, disaster recovery, and optimization.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Plan and build network architectures (LAN/WAN, VPNs, VLANs) and deploy hardware/software.
  • Set up and manage routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance, tune resources, and ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Work with the IT Security team to implement security measures, manage firewalls, and enforce security policies.
  • Diagnose and resolve network issues, outages, and complex connectivity problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to users and other IT staff.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, patches, and disaster recovery.
  • Attend educational training and vendor events related to networking and security to stay current on trends and emerging technologies

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field / equivalent experience.
