Job description

Overview:

The IT Network Engineer role is responsible for providing on-site support and administration of secure network infrastructure supporting IT and business-specific systems across multiple divisions and office locations. Secondarily, this role will assist with server and virtualization support for multiple divisions. This position requires a deep understanding of both physical and logical networking concepts, switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers, security principles, and best practices. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on self-starter with strong design, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. This is an experienced-level position.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and experienced resource for network topics.
  • Design, install, support, and maintain network infrastructure (e.g., router, firewall, switch, wireless, structured cabling, etc.) and associated tools.
  • Manage the strategy and roadmap for network infrastructure, including cabling, network protocols, and equipment lifecycles.
  • Ensure the security of all networks and perimeters through proper configuration, hardening, and patching.
  • Analyze the current environment and recommend improvements to monitoring, disaster recovery, optimization, and automation.
  • Adapt quickly to change and respond to ambiguous situations.
  • Responsible for the daily monitoring and maintenance of all network systems.
  • Responsible for management of internet and point-to-point circuits across multiple divisions.
  • Provide mentoring and training to other engineers and end users as needed.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, support procedures, and training for supported systems.
  • Stay current with relevant industry trends and provide advice and guidance on their impact on our technologies.
  • Conduct Proof-of-Concept, Cost-Benefit, and/or Proof-of-Value evaluations to support solution purchase decisions.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call scheduled rotation.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills (technical and non-technical).


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years related experience in IP-based networking technologies and industry standards.
  • Completion of an associate degree or higher (preferably in a technical field).
  • Fortinet NSE (FCE, FCSS), Cisco (CCIE, CCNP, CCDA, Meraki), Juniper or equivalent networking certification(s).
  • Subject Matter Expert in network architecture, circuits, wireless, protocols, operating systems, DNS, and perimeter security.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and logic skills. Must be a problem-solver.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in radio, television, or broadcasting; RF experience is a major plus.
  • Hands-on skills in wireless networking and wireless security.
  • Experience working with Windows or Linux servers and virtualization.
  • Competency in Voice over IP (VoIP) technology and circuits.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage wiring, cabling installation & repair, and cellular.
  • Related security certifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
