Job Summary
The Assistant Coach, Women's Softball will assist the Head Coach in administering all phases of the softball program. Primary duties include recruiting, team travel and equipment, practice and game coaching. Other duties include monitoring the academic progress of the softball student-athletes, helping in the development of team unity and individual character, and representing the department and institution to internal and external constituents. Fully comply with institutional, PBC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
RECRUITING/SCOUTING STUDENT ATHLETES : Lead in the development of plans to successfully recruit prospective student-athletes for the softball team according to AU policies and departmental philosophies. Identify potential recruits and plan effective scouting and evaluation plans and record-keeping. Evaluate prospective student-athletes and, in conjunction with the head coach, execute recruitment plans to enroll desired prospects. Work with admissions and compliance to set official visit itineraries for prospective student-athletes in compliance with NCAA requirements. Develop a good relationship with the coaches and contacts of high schools, junior colleges, clubs, and community-sponsored groups.
RECRUITING AND CAMPUS VISITS : Conduct official and unofficial visits on campus. Contact and evaluate local, state, national, and international prospective student-athletes. Coordinate recruiting efforts with the NCAA Compliance Officer as required. Maintain Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules to successfully complete the NCAA certification test.
STUDENT-ATHLETE INSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT : Participate in and lead assigned elements of practices and competitions. Prepare and effectively execute drills and training activities. Provide one-on-one instruction and development opportunities for student-athletes, as needed. Fulfill game-day responsibilities as assigned by the head coach. Assist with instruction and coaching during practice sessions to support student-athlete growth and performance.
OTHER DUTIES : Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with a minimum of one year of related experience in coaching softball. CPR certification completion within two months of hire. Valid state driver's license required.

Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Salary Minimum: $32,800/annually - Midpoint: $34,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
