Senior Manager, Music Licensing & Partner Management
Location: New York, NY (currently hybrid with up to 50% remote)
Your mission on the Music team:
The Senior Manager, Music Licensing & Partner Management is responsible for managing music content partnerships and supporting the strategic development and operationalization of licensing agreements across the organization. This role serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external partnership functions, including Digital Business Development, Strategy, Business & Licensing Affairs, and Commercial Partnerships, ensuring alignment between partner opportunities, licensing frameworks, and broader business objectives.
Your day-to-day:
Licensing & Rights Management
  • Support deal negotiations with new and existing music content partners (labels, publishers, PROs, distributors)
  • Manage the implementation and ongoing contract administration process of music licensing agreements
  • Ensure licensed content is compliant with contractual terms
  • Identify and escalate potential licensing risks, rights conflicts, or compliance concerns
  • Support evaluation of new product features, distribution channels, and campaigns that require licensed content
  • Collaborate with external counsel on rights-related matters tied to business and product initiatives
  • Manage track-level clearances and rights approvals for promotional, commercial, and partner initiatives

Partner Management & Commercial Alignment
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for business functions within our external music partners
  • Support partner onboarding and ongoing enablement within the platform
  • Provide strategic guidance on platform capabilities and limitations as they relate to licensed content
  • Manage partner requests and escalations related to catalog availability, content usage, campaign participation, rights, metadata, and content availability, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication
  • Support business development and brand marketing initiatives by managing clearances and cross-functional alignment to enable artist engagement
  • Cultivate, maintain, and expand strategic relationships with external partners to drive long-term collaboration and revenue growth

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Act as a central connector between internal teams and external partnership functions to ensure aligned execution of licensing and partner initiatives
  • Partner closely with Sales, Ad Sales, Legal, Product, Marketing, and Business Development teams to support the successful deployment of licensed content
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on licensing and partner-related considerations
  • Communicate licensing requirements and implications clearly to stakeholders
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts tied to licensing, partner growth, and new revenue opportunities

People Management
  • Manage and develop direct reports aligned to licensing and partner management priorities
  • Provide coaching, prioritization support, and performance feedback
  • Align team objectives with broader company and Music organization goals

Your profile:
  • 5+ years experience in music licensing, content partnerships, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of music rights frameworks (labels, publishers, distributors, PROs)
  • Proven ability to manage external partners and drive cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience working closely with Legal, Product, and commercial teams
  • Strong communication, organization, and strategic thinking skills

Salary range: The salary range for this role is $90,000-110,000.
