Job description

The goal of Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS) is to select and support a multicultural and multidisciplinary cohort of scholars, and prepare them for leadership roles in academia, industry, government, nonprofits, and the community at large. Leadership in the modern world requires multicultural and multidisciplinary understanding. Thus, KHS brings together scholars from around the world and from many disciplines to create a learning environment that will help prepare all our scholars for leadership in a highly diverse and complex world. Through its King Global Leadership Program, KHS seeks to strengthen values, build skills, develop knowledge, and create a community that will lead to lifelong relationships with a network of global leaders.

JOB PURPOSE:
Knight-Hennessy Scholars seeks a Marketing Manager to work on the development and implementation of marketing activities.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Recommend, manage, and execute integrated marketing plans/programs and strategies to meet business objectives. For example: collaborate on the process for announcing the new KHS cohort every year; write and edit stories that feature scholars (current, completed, and alumni) and KHS messaging; manage internal communication tools such as an editorial calendar; and manage graphic design projects.
  • Develop and manage the communication and brand strategy incorporating appropriate channels (i.e., web presence, digital, and print). For example: manage the production of the Imagine a World podcast; manage and create content for the KHS annual report; develop and collaborate on social media content with a social media consultant; and develop a video content strategy.
  • Manage market research and campaign/program/service/event analysis used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation, and customer targeting. For example: report on user behavior, engagement, pageviews, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative analysis for YouTube and KHS website content in order to evaluate the effectiveness of different types of content on different platforms.
  • Assess market opportunities and track market trends. Recommend marketing improvements based on findings. For example: brainstorm, create, and develop on-brand, engaging videos and KHS social and website content in line with current trends and opportunities.
  • Manage specific marketing program budget, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Manage vendors on specific projects. For example: video editors, copy editors, proofreaders, and Stanford Web Services.
  • Work in collaboration with Institutional Communicators on media relations content and other areas. For example: build and maintain connections within the Stanford communicators community, including with Stanford University Communications and Stanford departments, to pitch and collaborate on content and events to increase awareness, engagement, and collaboration with KHS and KH scholars.
  • Work in collaboration with internal teams to consult on content, messaging, and other projects as needed. For example: collaborate with Program, Admission, and Operations teams to consult on content and messaging; collaborate and consult on community presentations, information sessions, and admission outreach.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience in product, program and/or services marketing.
  • Experience with digital, web, print, social media marketing.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams toward a common goal.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with market research and data analysis.
  • Understands how to implement effective marketing programs across multiple channels.
  • Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Prior experience in planning and managing program budgets.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in multiple industries 
  • Implementation of a Request for Proposal from start to finish 
  • Managing large, highly visible social media accounts for organizations
  • Work with students (preferably graduate students) to develop effective content
  • Some experience with Slate
  • Some experience with UX and design best practices

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

The expected pay range for this position is $119,667 to $152,191. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
