Position : Engineering Technician Intern
Location : Saint Louis, MO
Duration : 9 Months Contract
Total Hours/week :40.00
Hours : 7AM - 5:30PM Mon. - Thurs. HM is willing to adjust work hours to 4-6 hours per day when school resumes in the Fall.
Description:
  • The Engineering technician role is entry level with limited experience.
  • They will develops skills in basic tasks, techniques and procedures within multiple skilled areas/processes/methods.
  • They will apply basic knowledge and skills to complete routine tasks consisting of prescribed steps.
  • He/she will have basic skills/training in an analytical/scientific method or operational process area.
  • He/she will work within clearly defined SOPs and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines and work with a high degree of supervision and has minimal discretion.
  • Performs engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Designs and scales up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, and tests manufactured products to maintain quality.
  • Analyzes problems and provide possible solutions to the engineering team related to manufacturing equipment, processes and systems or the causes of process failures.
  • Follow directions per the lead engineer as defined.
  • Perform time and motion studies to capture and verify cycle times for individual process steps.
  • Document cycle time - actual vs standard.
  • Track changes/variances and communicate changes to the team.
  • Red line prints, work instructions, routers and bill of materials for changes.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and commitment to hard work - takes instruction and shows ambition towards completing tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Able to effectively listen and communicate on complex ideas in a team environment. Proactively seeks to support other team members.
  • Active team member not only delivering on tasks, but providing feedback and ideas for improvement.
  • Reach out to team members for help when needed.

Minimum Education:
  • H.S. degree or vocational certificate.
  • A.S degree preferred - pre-engineering

Skills:
  • Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Power point, etc.)
  • Experience with time and motion studies or capability to learn
  • Effectively use Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills as well as the ability to operate in an environment without constant supervision.
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to use a stop watch, read time.

Experience:
  • High school graduate with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Specialized Knowledge
Understanding of time and motion studies preferred
